We were expecting a black, but quite honestly, there's nothing to complain about with Blaze! Two shows and two blue ribbons. Two senior judges loved his staple length, fineness, and beautiful expression of crimp. We're not sure how long this fiber will last this Spring because he was not shorn last Fall, but there's every reason to expect his next fleece to be even nicer. Blaze's dam produces banner winners: Lancaster's Highland Chieftain, Dorato's Peruvian Iron Man, Crown's Peruvian Sceptre. That's a great track record and an indication of what might be in Blaze's future. He's young, but that just means you will have the opportunity to show him and enjoy the ribbons and awards he will earn and then the reputation he will bring to your breeding program.
Blaze is "blazing" through the Spring show circuit with two firsts and a second. Jill McCleod at MAPACA commented on his fineness and density and loved his crimp style, but noted that his fiber is getting to the point where its length is causing the structure to pull out at the tips. Long staple length with fineness and density...there's nothing wrong there!
